Vaccinations

Vaccinations

Vaccinations serve as one of the most effective methods of preventing diseases and infections. Vaccinations supplement your immune system with additional resistance against common diseases. There are various types of vaccinations, each treatment addresses a specific disease. The problems treated include HPV, meningitis, polio, shingles, hepatitis, rabies, and more.

The human papilloma virus acts as a catalyst for the development of cervical cancer, genital warts, and other types of cancer. HPV vaccines were developed to treat two types of HPV, which consist of HPV-16 and HPV-17. They also protect against cancers associated with lesions of the cervix.

Chickenpox is a common disease affecting young people and can be treated with varicella vaccine. The medicine treats not only chickenpox, but other diseases such as herpes zoster (shingles), postherpetic neuralgia, Ramsay Hunt syndrome, and more. The varicella vaccine administers a live virus that protects against chickenpox by reducing the number of varicella zoster viruses in the body.

For patients experiencing meningitis, meningococcal vaccine is available to help patients treat these problems. The vaccine grants immunity to meningitis and a number of different vaccinations were developed to treat various strains of the disease.

The vaccinations we perform include:

• Polio Vaccine
• Shingles Vaccine
• DTAP Vaccination
• Hepatitis B
• HPV Vaccine
• MMR Vaccine
• Pneumonia Vaccination
• Rubella Vaccination
• Tdap Vaccination
• Yellow Fever
• Chickenpox Vaccination
• Hepatitis A
• Rabbis

Hepatitis B vaccines are produced synthetically and do not utilize blood products. They have been available for almost 30 years and are recommended for infants and children up to 18 years old. Hepatitis A affects the liver and is spread through the ingestion of contaminated food or water. Immunization efforts involve a double dose of inactivated hepatitis A vaccine.

Vaccine for rabies is provided to patients with a high risk of exposure, including veterinarians, animal keepers, lab workers, and rabies biologics production workers. The schedule for vaccination is three doses, the second is performed seven days after the first one, and the final dose is provided 21-28 days after the first.

Urinary Tract Infections

Urinary Tract Infections

An infection of the genital or vaginal area can affect the function and health of the tissue surrounding it. These situations can include genital warts, urinary tract infections, and vaginal cancer. Their occurrence can also influence pregnancies and regular functions.

Genital warts infect the skin around the genital area and can be contagious through sexual intercourse. It is a contagious growth on the external skin around the genitals and is caused by contact with an individual affected by human papillomavirus. Warts display a rough texture that is caused by several viruses, including ones that falls under common HPV strains.

Most warts disappear on their own without medical treatment, although you can elect to visit a doctor if you believe the problem is more serious. The Warner Plaza Medical Clinic in Woodland Hills provides a full diagnosis and examination for genital warts. It is important to schedule an examination if you recently had unprotected sex with a new partner, have a STD, are pregnant, or trying to become pregnant.

Urinary tract infections affect women and are present when pain or burning is present during urination. Additional effects include lower abdominal cramps, nausea, blood or pus in urine, pain during sexual intercourse, and frequent urination. Conventional treatments such as antibiotics offers only a temporary solution to limiting the effects of UTI.

To prevent the occurrence of UTI, lifestyle modifications can be applied. Urinating and cleaning the vaginal area before sexual intercourse can decrease the chances of having UTI. After intercourse, it is recommended to urinate and shower as well. Drinking six or eight glasses of filtered water a day and exercising 5 days per week can also minimize the risk of UTI.

Women over the age of 60 may also experience a rare disease known as vaginal cancer. This problem occurs when cancer cells have been discovered in the tissues of the vaginal canal. There is no precise cause for this disease, though it is possible the cells could originate in another part of the body. Treatment options for vaginal cancer include surgery or radiation therapy. Surgery involves removing the tissue that contains the cancer cells. Radiation therapy consists of focusing a beam on the pelvic region to dissolve the cancer cells.

Tuberculosis Test

Tuberculosis Test

Tuberculosis is a common disease that can affect the lungs and is spread through the air by coughing or sneezing. The symptoms of an active TB infection include chronic coughing, blood-colored spits, fever, night sweats, and weight loss. The Warner Plaza Medical Clinic provides safe and effective tuberculosis tests for patients on a walk-on basis.

Our office specializes in two types of TB tests for patients, including the standard TB skin test or the x-ray exam of the chest. Our testing materials are delivered directly from the manufacturer to ensure a safe process with accurate results. A second visit is required at least two days after the skin test to examine the treated area and evaluate the result.

The TB test determines if an immune response is activated by the presence of the bacterium that causes the disease. This occurrence may indicate that the patient currently has TB, received a BCG vaccine, or was formerly exposed to it. The test looks at the amount of swelling the skin displays. A wider area of swelling can indicate a reaction to an existing TB infection.

A TB test is readily available to various patients, including infants, pregnant women, or those with a severe HIV infection.

Sports Injuries

Sports Injuries

Muscle sprains, cuts, and fractures are frequently encountered by both athletes and those who exercise daily. Your body consists of different muscles, tendons, and ligaments that hold the joints together, which allow you to move. Injuries to these areas can affect your structural and physical functions.

Sprains are a frequent injury that affects the ligament. This can be caused by excessive stretching or tearing of the ligament muscles. Symptoms of a strain include pain, swelling, bruising, muscle spasms, inflammation, or ramping. They can be treated by resting frequently and applying ice on the affected area. The feet can also be elevated and wrapped with a bandage if swelling exists.

Another injury that affects your skin is a cut. This can occur in various situations, whether you are playing sports or cooking dinner. Treating a cut effectively first involves rinsing the damaged area with cold tap water. Wrap the area with a bandage or compression if bleeding occurs. If the cut is deep and may require stitches, it is recommended to go see the doctor. The Warner Plaza Medical clinic is a walk-in center in Woodland Hills that offers comprehensive care for serious cuts and abrasions.

A fracture refers medically to a broken bone and they are a common occurrence, a patient generally experiences two cases during their lifetime. The risks of experiencing a fracture depends on your age, complicated injuries are more likely to happen as you age. This is because your bone becomes more brittle as they grow with your body. Serious fractures require prompt treatment or damage to the blood vessels or nerves may result.

If you experience an accident that results in a fracture, you can find prompt aid at our walk-in clinic.

Spider Bite

Spider Bite

While spiders do not set out to hunt humans, their bite can still pose a risk to people who encroach upon their environments. Most spiders are harmless, but some can produce powerful bites and inject dangerous venomous glands into your bloodstream. The toxins produced by various species can cause problems such as headaches, joint pain, spasms, nausea, vomiting, fever, and chills.

Three particular spiders that are of much concern to patients in the U.S. include the black widow, brown recluse, and tarantula. These spiders are among the most common poisonous species in the country.

The black widow spider is easily identified by its red underbelly marking and pristine black body. It prefers to live in dark areas close to trash cans, closets, woodpiles, and garages. They can be found in certain areas of California and Southern Canada. The venom produced by a black widow can cause increased blood pressure, breathing difficulties, itching, and excessive sweating. Although they are not life-threatening, medical attention remains important to reduce itching and muscle cramps.

Widespread across Oklahoma, Kansas, Texas, and Mississippi, the brown recluse spider possesses a powerful bite that can result in serious reactions. They grow up to half of an inch and possess a light brown colored body. The wound left behind by a recluse spider bite can be visually unappealing. The wound may turn into an ulcer and cause severe pain. Chills, fever, muscle aches, vomiting, and nausea may accompany a bite wound.

Tarantulas are located around the Southern United States and possess hairy fibers surrounding their body that delivers an irritating sensation to attackers. This can also cause redness, extreme pain, and uncomfortable bumps to appear on the surface of the affected area.

When treating spider bites, apply ice immediately and elevate the affected area. A medical professional should be on hand if you are dealing with a bite from one of the three mentioned spiders. If the bite is minor, you can elect to receive analgesics, antihistamines, and antibiotics to treat the wound. For a black widow bite, a muscle relaxant can prevent elevated blood pressure caused by the venom.

If red blood cells or hemolysis occurs from a brown recluse bite, hospitalization may be required to repair the tissue. Tarantula bites can be treated with antihistamines or glucocorticoids to minimize the symptoms. In general, it is recommended to receive a tetanus shot after a serious wound from a spider bite.

Sore Throat and Sinus Infection

Sore Throat and Sinus Infection

A serious cold or flu can affect your body in a number of ways. Generally, the areas that show the most noticeable symptoms are the throat, sinus, and intestines. The body is generally slow to respond to these symptoms, which means they can remain prominent for days or weeks.

A sore throat is an inflammation of the pharynx. This is caused by a viral or bacterial infection associated with the flu. The symptoms of this problem include pain in the throat, swollen or red tonsils, hoarse voice, or pus in the rear of the mouth. A sore throat is frequently accompanied by fevers, runny noses, coughs, or aches.

The Warner Plaza Medical Clinic in Woodland Hills provides the necessary urgent care services that will benefit your recovery from these symptoms. We provide a throat swab test that will locate the bacteria causing the sore throat, which will then be rinsed out with antibiotics. For viral infections, you can apply home-based solutions such as warm saltwater rinses, tea, ice pops, rest, and throat lozenges. Over-the-counter medications that contain ibupfrofen or acetaminophen can also ease the irritation.

Viruses can also present problems to the stomach. A gastrointestinal infection is characterized by diarrhea, which result in constant watery movements in the stomach area. A GI infection is present when you are experiencing a combination of symptoms such as abdominal cramping, fever, loss of appetite, vomiting, weight loss, dehydration, mucus, or blood in the stool.

GI infections can be treated by staying hydrated. It is important to consume plentiful amounts of water in order to replace fluids lost during diarrhea. To maintain the number of electrolytes in your body, drink broth, juice, or soup, these contain sodium or potassium minerals that will allow your body to function properly.

Diarrhea is not a long-lasting problem, by following the right instructions and consuming enough fluids, your stomach will show improvement quickly.

Sinusitis is a common problem affecting the respiratory system and it affects people from various age groups. They inflame the sinus cavities in the bones adjacent to your nose. Acute infectious sinusitis is the most common case and it lasts for less than four weeks. The symptoms of this problem include congestion, sore throat, pain, headaches, bad breath, fever, or pain in the eyes.

A number of options are available to treat sinusitis. Decongestants can be used to reduce congestion in the nose and antibiotics can be used help remove bacterial infections. If you are experiencing any pain, you can take effective pain relievers. For chronic sinusitis problems, you can contact the Warner Plaza Medical Clinic for more information and treatments available.

Pink eye

Pink eye

Pink eye is experienced when there is an inflammation of the conjunctiva, which is a membrane that is responsible for lining the eye. When inflammation occurs, the blood vessels of the eye become inflated – this provides a red or pink appearance for the eyes.

If your eyes are experiencing redness, irritation, blurry vision, crusting, or increased sensitivity to light, these may indicate pink eye. The causes of pink eye range from chemical exposure, viral infections, bacteria, fungus, allergies, or excessive contact lens use. This inflammation can also be accompanied by a viral infection such as the flu, sore throats, or common cold.

An inflamed eye may also produce excess tears which are painless, but also distracting. Bacterial causes of pink eye can be treated with the use of antibiotic eye drops or ointment, although most cases can resolve themselves after three days. If the infection begins to affect the skin around the eye, it is recommended to contact a physician immediately – the Warner Plaza Medical Clinic provides prompt attention to pink eye problems around the Woodland Hills area.

In addition to the hormones one may be lacking hormone blockers may be prescribed to hinder the bodies natural production of a hormone. If this is something you have been suffering with for many years, hormone therapy (testosterone if you are a trans man and estrogen if you are a trans woman) may be an option for you. Each case needs a different method and counseling may be an added feature to your treatment process. This can help with the emotional and physical changes that happen with hormone therapy.

Flu Shot

Flu Shot

A flu vaccination is one of the most effective methods of prevention against the disease. If you are experiencing symptoms that may indicate a flu, please call our staff at the Warner Plaza Medical Clinic. We can prescribe antiviral medicine that will minimize the extent of the virus and shorten the length of time that you are sick.

Flu viruses frequently circulate around the nation and can be serious enough to cause death. This is why receiving an annual flu vaccine is essential to patients who want to remain protected from the virus.

Traditional flu vaccines protect against three viruses, including H1N1, H3N2, and influenza B. The standard doses of the vaccine involve the injection of an egg-grown virus into your skin, which activates your immune system. These are generally approved for children over the age of six months. For adults, the standard dose trivalent shot utilizes viruses grown in cell culture.

A flu vaccine is especially important for people who have a high risk of developing complications with the flu, are pregnant, younger than 5 years, or have medical conditions such as diabetes, asthma, and chronic lung disease.

The ideal time period to receive a flu vaccination is by October. Up to two weeks may be required for the immune system to be fully activated to protect against viruses. Earlier vaccinations are more recommended to ensure to virus isn’t spread throughout the local community.

Chest Pain

Chest Pain

Chest pain is a frequent occurrence for patients visiting urgent care centers. This problem can produce anxiety for the patient because of their associates with heart attacks. The team at Warner Plaza Medical Clinic is among the most talented in the Woodland Hills area in treating patients experiencing chest pain.

A chest pain is not necessarily related to a problem that affects the heart. This organ contains a number of additional structures that can lead to chest pain. The various diagnosis of chest pain includes angina pectoris, ischemic pain, aortic stenosis, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, severe systemic hypertension, anxiety, depression, psychogenic, aortic dissection, non-ischemic origin, and more.

Chest pain may also be influenced by the amount of sleep you receive. If you’re not receiving adequate sleep, you can experience an increased risk of high blood pressure. The amount of sleep time is correlated with the heart rate, which is a large factor in determining your blood pressure.

People who only sleep five or fewer hours a night may affect their cardiovascular system to operate at elevated levels. Those who sleep for less than five hours are more likely to develop hypertension compared to those who received at least seven or eight hours of sleep.
